Location: Cincinnati, OH (Onsite) Contract role Role Description The core function of a Network Engineer is to ensure an organization’s computer networks are operational, secure, and efficient. Their role : Design, build, and maintain network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls). Monitor performance and fix problems quickly. Implement security measures to protect the network. Document all configurations and procedures. Required Skills Core Azure Services: Deep understanding of fundamental Azure offerings, including Virtual Machines (VMs), Azure Storage (Blob, File, Queue), Virtual Networking (VNets, subnets, NSGs, VPNs), and Azure Active Directory (now Microsoft Entra ID). Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: The ability to calmly and methodically analyze complex issues and devise effective solutions under pressure. Networking Fundamentals: A deep understanding of core concepts such as the OSI model, TCP/IP, subnetting, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, and DHCP. Nice-to-have Skills Automation and Scripting: Proficiency in languages like Python or Bash to automate repetitive tasks (e.g., configurations, monitoring, data backups), which significantly increases efficiency and scalability. Cloud Networking Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and hybrid cloud concepts, as more companies migrate their infrastructure to the cloud.
